Artists, arts administrators, and art enthusiasts are invited to Topeka to meet with State Legislators and tour the Capitol Building.
The details: Here is our schedule for the day. We are prioritizing attendance at the Appropriations Committee meeting to observe and then pairing up to distribute packets of information to legislative offices.
The Kanas Arts Network’s main ask is to support funding for the Kansas Arts Commission and communicate the importance of supporting the arts across the state. If you have stories about the impact of Kansas Arts Commission grants or supported projects, these are great talking points, in addition to stories from your own work and communities.
We encourage you to reach out and schedule meetings with your representatives in advance to share the impact of the arts and creativity in your communities. I am attaching a PowerPoint from our advocacy training session with some guidance on how to tell your story and connect it to data that supports funding the arts in Kansas.
You can also wear t-shirts or buttons with an arts advocacy message. We will have buttons available at check-in.
